Prevent identification of individuals
Home » Geolocation » Prevent identification of individuals

As an individual’s mobile location data is situated within more and more geospatial context data, its anonymity erodes. Therefore, measures should be put in place to prevent subsequent use of the data resulting in identification of individuals or their location.

  1. Legal issues: using anonymized data instead of personal data (see Legal issues: using anonymized data instead of personal data)
  2. Legal issues: If the use of anonymous data is not possible, use the minimal amount of personal data and pseudonymize them (see If the use of anonymous data is not possible, use the minimal amount of personal data and pseudonymize them)
